DEMOCRACY

Definition

 The word democracy comes from the ancient greek “demos” which means people or nation plus “kratein” which finally means to rule or to govern. 

WHEN DID A COUNTRY IS CONSIDERED DEMOCRATIC? 

There a many reasons to a country be considered democratic, here I only measured just one. So, a Country is considered democratic when the citizens exercise power by voting.

TYPES OF DEMOCRACY

• Direct Democracy: the citizens vote to make their own rules and laws, there is no President, prime minister or elected representatives.

• Representative democracy: the citizens vote for representatives who will make rules and laws on their behalf. There is  an elected president who is the head of state or government.

• Parliamentary Democracy: the winning political party chooses a leader who becomes the head of state but he or she has no real power.

OTHER TYPES OF DEMOCRACY

• Presidential;

• Authoritarian;

• Social;

• Islamic; and

• Participatory. 

IMPORTANCE OF DEMOCRACY 

In my opinion, democracy has moreadvantages than disadvantages.

Perceive the democracy have more advantages, mainly because encourages equality in a positive way  and usually grow faster economically than other forms of government. Also,  people identify their government to creat a stronger level of patriotism.
